Glenda Ostrander is the former Director of Internal Audit for Gwinnett County Public Schools. She retired in January 2023 after spending 16 years with Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS). Glenda has an extensive background in auditing spanning over 45 years.  She has a keen interest in fraud-related matters and audit issues.

She was responsible for administering a broad, comprehensive program of internal auditing within GCPS.   This included conducting:

  • financial audits of local school activity funds;
  • reviews of FTE (full time equivalent student reporting);
  • annual inventory verification procedures and internal controls reviews;
  • operational audits of schools and departmental units;
  • financial audits to review the means of safeguarding and accounting for school district assets, and
  • special fraud investigations as warranted.

Glenda served on the GCPS Investments Committee performing limited audit procedures for the quarterly scheduled meetings as a means to ensure accuracy in financial reporting of the reported financial transactions.

Glenda moved to the metro Atlanta area from Tallahassee, Florida in January 2007. Prior to assuming her duties with GCPS, she served in a similar role as Supervisor of Internal Auditing for Leon County Schools in Tallahassee, Florida. Prior to joining Leon County School District, she was an auditor in various capacities with the Florida Department of Education.

She graduated magna cum laude from Florida A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting.  She also holds the following audit-related certifications:

  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) – 2002;
  • Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) – 1990;
  • Certified Government Auditing Professional (CGAP) – 2002;
  • Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) – 1996, and
  • Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) – 2012.

She maintains current active member status with the Atlanta Chapter and international organization of the Institute of Internal Auditors, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and AGA, both the Atlanta Chapter and national association. She currently serves in leadership positions and committees for two of these groups.
